147 Spotisfaction Wednesday – 8th December 2010 – James TAE

Wednesday Wednesday Wednesday. We skipped a Monday because Mondays generally suck ass, and also because we’re real human beings with Christmas shopping and spare days holiday left.

But we’re back today and straight on it, and I present you with a, if I say so myself, a banger of a playlist. I’ve done a third installment of my Dubisfiction series, and this time I’ve gone for upbeat, high tempo dub, electro and a touch of breakbeat. Hopefully this will get your bloodpumping on this cold, chilly December morning.

Dubisfiction 3

This time I’ve brought in the heavies – uplifting tunes, heavy, razor-edged, upbeat; the sort of thing I would listen to before heading out for a night out. I don’t waste any time, launching straight in with Noisia‘s Shellshock, an absolutely beastly track that is on the fringes of dubstep, drum’n’bass and big beat, with two great skits from Foreign Beggars.

That’s not to say the mixlist doesn’t head a few directions. SBTRKT takes us in a housey-dub direction, and Burial brings down the tempo and brings out the soul early on (and I discovered both albums are now on Spotify, so including him was a no brainer. Martyn and Reso are ‘my boys’ – I have so far loved everything these guys have released. A few perhaps lesser-known artists with PANTyRAID (lol), Broken Note and Niveau Zero before a classic from Nero, their Blinded By The Lights remix, close out this playlist.

I’m also pleased with the structure of this playlist, I think it’s the most fluid and listenable of my mixlists so far – I hope you agree and that it’s got you guys kicking it this morning! Enjoy.
