144 Spotisfaction Monday – 29th November 2010 – Paul ‘Fozz’ Foster

Morning ladies and lads. I don’t like to be one to state the obvious, but good goddamn it’s cold. So cold, in fact, that I’ve come down with a bout of ManFlu (the horror!). So, I’m sat here trying to warm my poor hands whilst sipping a steaming mug of Lemsip. Great times, sirs. Great times.

Today’s playlist is by Gig Rig extraordinaire, Paul “Fozz” Foster, and is a fantastic concept – hit the links contained in the blurb below to see the music videos that go with his playlist. Nice work, Fozz.

As always, if you have an idea for a playlist (or if you just have a playlist you enjoy listening to, concept or not), then wing it our way and we’d love to publish it.

Love, hugs and mealy grubs.

Video Killed The Radio Star

I love a good music video so I thought I’d base a playlist on the quality of the video rather than the quality of the song itself. Feel free to add links to other videos you like in the comments section.

Radiohead – Just
I really want to know the answer!

Sia – Breathe Me
That’s an awful lot of polaroids. I’m particularly fond of the random few where she’s wearing a Stormtrooper helmet. Made me chuckle.

Jack Johnson – Sitting, Waiting, Wishing
Kudos to Jack Johnson for this one. He had to learn how to sing the song backwards and do the whole thing in one take, all whilst being pelted with a variety of different items.

Coldplay – The Scientist
This is a similar style to the Jack Johnson video, but not quite as impressive. Still very good though.

Basement Jaxx – Where’s Your Head At
Monkeys. With human faces. Going mental. What more could you want from a music video?

Björk – All Is Full Of Love
Who would have thought it? Lesbian robots are actually quite sexy, what with all the mechanical probes and such.

Modest Mouse – Float On
Music videos don’t come much trippier than this. And it’s an awesome song to boot.

Fujiya & Miyagi – Ankle Injuries
I’m guessing this was made using some kind of computer aided design. If it’s real dice, then WOW! Either way it looks pretty ace.

Chemical Brothers – Star Guitar
You have to watch this several times to pick up on all the little details. Pure genius, from director Michel Gondry, who is better known for his films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep.

Justice ”“ D.A.N.C.E.
I want one of those t-shirts.

White Stripes – The Hardest Button To Button
Another awesome video from Gondry.

RJD2 – Work It Out
If I was on crutches this is blatantly how I’d get around.

OK Go – Here It Goes Again
I wonder how many takes it took them to get this right in one take. I’m guessing quite a lot.

The next three videos aren’t official music videos, but happen to feature the songs:

Fatboy Slim – That Old Pair Of Jeans
A simply breathtaking piece of synchronised juggling. How is this even humanly possible?

Band Of Horses – The Funeral
This is probably the most phenomenal use of a bike that you’ll ever see. I must have watched it about 50 times and it still leaves me completely amazed.

Jose Gonzalez – Heartbeats
This is a parody on the Sony Bravia advert from a few years ago (the one with the bouncing coloured balls) that featured the song, and it made me chuckle.
